Very Cold

The photo is the view from the front window of my den at publication time.

Yesterday wasn't very nice here.We had about 8 cms of snow and the wind was quite strong and blew it around quite a bit.The temp wasn't too bad throughout most of the day at just a few degrees below freezing but it started dropping later in the day and was down to -15°C by midnight. The wind had tapered off by then and we had a few more flurries through the evening.
This morning it is not fit to be outside. The temp is at -15 and the wind is quite strong once again. There is lots of blowing and drifting snow being reported on the open areas of HWY103 and elsewhere.
Tomorrow is expected to be somewhat warmer.

I found an article about the cat that I mentioned in yesterday's blog:
Cat frozen to ground freed by Regina man who heard 'howling and howling'
Canwest News Service Published: Saturday, January 19, 2008
A Saskatchewan man freed a lost cat who was frozen to the ground in sub-zero temperatures last Thursday. Mike Campbell was in an industrial area of Regina when he heard a cat howling in pain near some wrecked cars. "I was looking around and I couldn't see it until I started crawling underneath the cars," Mr. Campbell said. "I went to grab it, but it couldn't come to me because it was frozen to the ground. It was just howling and howling and howling." Mr. Campbell and the friend who was with him crawled under the car and began the painstaking task of freeing the animal. Mr. Campbell then took "Lucky" to the Animal Clinic of Regina, where he told the vets he would pay the bill, but could not keep the cat because he already has five of his own. Although Lucky's tail and hind limbs were frozen, he was medicated and slowly warmed up, said veterinarian Dr. Lesley Sheppard. The veterinarian added that surgery may be required. It was -47C with the wind chill factor on Thursday in Regina.
