Lots Of Snow Part II

This morning's photo:

The forecast snow arrived. It started snowing yesterday afternoon at around 5PM and continued throughout the evening, ending sometime overnight. We have an accumulation of about 10 to 15 cms.The temperature has improved since yesterday morning and is currently only a couple of degrees below freezing. It is expected to rise above the freezing point later today.

There's a chance of a flurry or two today but that's it.It should be a good day to clean up this mess.

Damn,It's Cold!!!

This morning's photo:

It was quite cool here yesterday and last evening and there has been no improvement overnight.Thankfully the wind was not an issue or it would have been brutal outside with the daytime temp in the -7° range.

The temp is not expected to break the freezing point again today and there's snow on the way for tonight......just when I thought winter was over!On the upside, the temperature is expected to rise overnight to above freezing so tomorrow should be a good shovelling day.

Clear and Calm

This morning's photo:

Yesterday was a somewhat cooler day than what we've been having but still it was quite nice.Temps were near the freezing mark for the day and the evening was mostly clear with temps near -5°... almost perfect for viewing the total lunar eclipse here. Some light cloud cover obsured the moon at totality but the show was still impressive.

This morning we have a light coating of frost with another cool day in store. There's a possibility of a few flurries and temps are to remain on the minus side of zero until later in the week.

Cooler

This morning's photo:

Yesterday was mild and breezy here with a fair amount of sunshine. The evening was clear and the temp dropped to -5° overnight with a passing flurry or two.

Local radio is reporting that some of the secondary roads are closed in Lunenburg county because of flooding and wash-outs from the rain we had on Monday.

Cooler weather is expected for the next couple of days.Hopefully it will remain clear for viewing the lunar eclipse this evening.

No Snow Left

This morning's photo:

We had lots of rain here yesterday and very mild temps.Bridgewater,35kms to the east of me,was reporting 10° yesterday afternoon on their local radio station while I was getting readings of 7° here on my thermometer. The wind was also quite strong from southerly directions.

The rain ended overnight with temps still remaining mild, especially for this time of the year.Last year at this time we were having colder weather and there was a fair amount of snow on the ground....archives.

Some cooler weather is moving into the area today but nothing extreme with temps expected to be within normal values.

Hopefully it will be clear tomorrow night,as forecast, for viewing the total lunar eclipse in our area.

Rain

This morning's photo:

It wasn't too bad here yesterday. We had partly sunny skies and temps around the freezing mark for the day.A few scattered flurries were in the air,as well.

Rainfall warning for
Queens County continued
25 to 50 millimetres of rain are expected today.
This is a warning that significant rainfall is expected in these regions today and tonight. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.
An intensifying low over Great Lakes is forecast to track across northeastern Ontario and move into central Québec today. An associated warm front has already moved across mainland Nova Scotia and is forecast pass north of the province this morning. Flurries or light snow currently over eastern Nova Scotia will change over to rain...Heavy at times...With the passage of the front. Current indications are that the heaviest amounts of rain will be over mainland Nova Scotia where rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 millimetres are forecast. Over Cape Breton lesser amounts..Up to 30 millimetres are expected.
Rapid snowmelt in areas where there is still lots of snow combined with the rainfall over frozen ground will likely result in significant water run off. People situated in areas prone to water run off in winter during these situations should be prepared.
Strong southerly winds are also forecast today gusting to 80 km/h over most areas. These strong winds will gust to 110 km/h on the Lee of the Highlands later this morning and early this afternoon. Fog patches will also develop today with the mild air giving low visibilities.
