Today’s Weather Trivia:
9 February 1952: After 20 cm of snow fell over a few days in Hamilton, ON, an inter-urban bus skidded on ice and careened down an almost vertical embankment into a 30-m-deep ravine. The accident injured 10 passengers, 2 severely, and at least 8 others, but no one was killed. The embankment was so steep that rescuers formed a human chain to pass the injured up to the highway, where 6 ambulances waited. --Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada
