We had a nice day here yesterday with the afternoon temp reaching +7°C on my thermometer. The official reading for this area, measured at Western Head, was +5.7°C.The evening was mild.Overnight the temps dropped to a few degrees below freezing and the sky cleared. We are expecting a sunny day today with temps once again above 0.The big storm to our southwest will have little to no impact on our area….we shouldn’t need the shovels again for a while.

Today’s Weather Trivia:
10 February 2008: A series of storms dumped up to 2 m of snow in some areas of British Columbia's Interior. Avalanche warnings were issued and the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt was closed indefinitely; truckers had to take long (expensive) alternative routes. Poor visibility kept helicopter crews from triggering avalanches. Such prolonged closures due to avalanches had not been dealt with before. --Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada
