Yesterday was a quiet weather day with temps in the +3°C range. Some light flurries moved into the area in the evening and changed to light snow overnight. It is currently snowing here and the snow is quite wet with the temps actually slightly above freezing. Some accumulation is expected and we may also see some freezing drizzle/rain here on the coast. There is much better weather on the way for the weekend and the snow we receive today will not be around for long.

Today’s Weather Trivia:

4 March 1971: A massive snowfall in Montreal, QC, left 2-storey drifts and 17 people dead from heart attacks, asphyxiation, or traffic accidents. Stranded workers and partiers crowded hotels, bars, and restaurants and police on snowmobiles kept order. Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau flew to Vancouver, BC, where, to the surprise of everyone but the 12 witnesses, he married Margaret Sinclair. – Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada
