What a day we had here yesterday! It was sunny and warm and record high temperatures were set throughout the province (related article). The ‘unofficial’ high here on my thermometer was +23°C,almost 5 times the seasonal normal for this time of the year. The evening was clear and warm with temps near +10°C at midnight.

It looks like things will be trending back to normal this week as temps drop and some precip moves into the area. It’s hard to believe but there’s even snow mentioned in this weeks long range forecast.

Today’s Weather Trivia:

21 March 1910: An Englishman walking from Winnipeg, MB, to Ottawa, ON, ended up in a North Bay, ON, hospital suffering severe frostbite. Both his feet had to be amputated above the ankles. The young man was entirely destitute and newspapers reported his case as most deserving of the "charitably inclined." A New York woman who read of his misfortune asked the mayor to assist the poor victim. Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada

The planet Saturn is putting on a good show this month. It lines up opposite the Sun, so it rises at sunset and remains in view all night. It is at its brightest, too. The golden planet outshines all but a handful of other planets and stars.
