Liverpool,Nova Scotia - Sunny and very warm

The weather really outdid itself yesterday with the afternoon temps at 20°C or better.There was some coastal fog until the early afternoon and then it moved well offshore except for some areas like Western Head where the ‘official’ weather data is collected.The maximum temp there was +9°C.For whatever reason,they refer to that as Liverpool in weather reports but,for those of us that live here,we know that it is not and we also know that it was well above +9°C here yesterday.Maybe some day Environment Canada will install a weather station in Liverpool but I won’t hold my breath waiting for that to happen.In the meantime we will just have to accept the fact that the official temperature reports that are posted online and broadcast by the media as being from ‘LIVERPOOL’ are really from WESTERN HEAD,approx. 10kms from town and on the much cooler coast.

More of this nice warm weather is expected today and we’ll probably set some more records.The warm and dry air will be with us for a few more days but some precip is possible later in the week.

4 April 1951: Tonnes of ice in record high flood waters smashed hundreds of homes in Pointe-aux-Trembles, QC. Volunteer boats were used to evacuate hundreds of villagers. The 6-m-thick ice grinding against one house awakened a teenager, who was carried to safety through waist-deep water on a firefighter's shoulders.
