Today's Weather Trivia:

May 23,1893: Two young sisters died in Ottawa, ON, when powerful winds blew away the cupola on their school. The winds took out trees, fences, flagpoles, and telephone wires and caused extensive property damage across the city. The storm also featured a terrific display of lightning. – Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada

Sky Events:

  • ISS(visible): No visible sightings for the next while because the ISS is passing over our area during daylight hours.
  • The planet Mercury just peeks into view in the east a little before sunrise the next few days. But it is quite low in the sky, so it is hard to see. You need to be in the southern half of the country to have a realistic chance of spotting it. – [Star Date Online]

  • AURORA (Northern Lights) WATCH: Very low possibility of auroral activity tonight.
