Today’s Weather Trivia:
June 30,2005: Vancouver, BC, moped through the third-gloomiest June on record. The international airport had only 148.5 hours of sunshine; 229 hours is normal. For most of June, a persistent low-pressure system over the Queen Charlotte Islands covered the sky with lingering cloud. Garden, camping, and fishing scenes in the Harrison Ford film Catch and Release were constant victims of wet weather. – Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada

• The small but pretty constellation Delphinus, the dolphin, glides high across the sky on summer nights. You need dark skies to see it. The dolphin is due east at nightfall, a little below the line linking the bright stars Deneb and Altair. It climbs high overhead later on, swimming alongside the faint glow of the Milky Way. – [Star Date Online]

• AURORA (‘Northern Lights’) WATCH: Although there is a low possibility of aurora activity tonight, solar activity is currently increasing and auroras could be visible on any clear evening.
