Today’s Weather Trivia:
June 21, 2005: In Burnaby, BC, lightning struck a runner listening to religious music on his iPod. It ruptured his eardrums, fractured his jaw, inflicted 1st- and 2nd-degree burns from his chest up into his ear channels, and burned his left leg and foot, then obliterated his sneaker. He suffered 50% hearing loss in both ears and could no longer play in the church orchestra. The iPod was burnt to a crisp. – Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada
