Today’s Weather Trivia:
1 July 1944: Dominion Day was celebrated in Ottawa, ON, with almost pre-war enthusiasm by 1,000s of government workers. They jammed local beaches and picnic grounds, headed to golf links, tennis courts, and bowling greens, and crowded onto trains and streetcars. Most motorists stayed close to home to save precious gasoline coupons, but some used up several to get out of the city. – Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada
