Today’s Weather Trivia:

21 October 1908:1908: One of the West's worst-ever early winter snowstorms raged, demoralizing railway companies. Officially, 25 cm of snow fell but when blown by gale-winds, snow filled several railway cuts to over 3 m deep. The storm halted trains because the snow was wholly unexpected. A Saddle Lake, AB, man clad in a sweater and without matches left his home to look for stock but perished in the blizzard. – Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada

Sky Events:

ISS visible sightings:There are no possible sightings until Oct 25.

The Moon is almost full tonight, so it's not only bright, but it remains in view all nights. Its glare will wash out this year's Orionid meteor shower. A few of the brightest meteors may shine through, but only from viewing locations away from city lights.

AURORA (‘Northern Lights’) WATCH: Auroral activity will be low.
