Today's Weather Trivia:
11 April 1921: Pictou County, NS, was gripped by one of its worst ever
freezing-rain storms. A torrent of rain became freezing rain by evening,
encasing the region in a heavy coating of ice. The weight of the crystal
sheen caused trees to give way, carrying wires with them and disrupting
public utilities. Many of New Glasgow's treasured ornamental and fruit trees
were permanently damaged. -Excerpt from 'The Canadian WeatherTrivia
