Today's Weather Trivia:
13 April 2005: A small patrol of Canadian soldiers driving snowmobiles
fanned out across the Arctic archipelago on sovereignty manoeuvres. They
reached Isachsen 4 days later. High winds rocked trailers on huge I-frames
and wheels 1 m in diameter. Despite severely reduced visibility, the patrol
arrived within 500 m of its destination. The worst anyone suffered after
the -30°C trek was minor frostbite.-Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather
Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada
