Today's Weather Trivia:
15 April 1941: A Winnipeg resident living along the Assiniboine River was
preparing for bed when he heard odd noises in the basement. Thinking it was
a burglar, he descended the stairs to repel the intruder. To his amazement
he found the basement under nearly a metre of water. The noise? Empty wine
jugs bobbing and clinking against each other. -Excerpt from 'The Canadian

The Moon forms a tall, skinny wedge with the planet Saturn and the star
Spica tonight. They are in the eastern sky at nightfall. Saturn looks like a
bright golden star well to the lower left of the Moon, with Spica directly
below Saturn.
