and even some hail.Low temps were below seasonal normals and felt colder in
the brisk winds.Overnight the wind switched to a more southerly direction
and temps are mild here this morning. We are expecting lots of wind and rain
today as a system moves through the area.Clearing will begin tomorrow but
the rest of the week will be generally cloudy.Temps will be within the

Today's Weather Trivia:
17 April 2007: Northeasterlies drove the 30-cm-thick spring ice pack (some
of it harder, stronger old ice) against the coast of Newfoundland and
Labrador, the worst conditions in 30 years. A wind shift tightened the ice,
trapping over 100 vessels, damaging many. As icebreakers began smashing
through the ice, helicopters rescued some 50 fishers; 500 others waited in
cold, damp weather for nearly 3 weeks. -Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather
Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada

tracks the Moon across the sky. What we see as Spica is actually two massive
