Today's Weather Trivia:
2006: Deep snowpacks in the West Kootenay (BC) region melted rapidly in
+35°C weather. Dozens of people evacuated their homes as armies of
volunteers filled a quarter million sandbags to stem rising rivers. In Grand
Forks, 40 families were on alert as the Kettle River reached its 3rd-highest
flow rate since 1930. Five days after the flooding, 0.5 m of water remained
in some basements.
