Today's weather trivia: 18 December

2006: In Eastern Canada, Christmas shoppers went golfing as temperatures hit
double digits, 4 to 5° above seasonal norms. Birds, plants, frogs, and many
animals (some emerging from hibernation) thought it was spring. Golf clubs
outsold skis and snowboards; by 10:00 AM, golf courses were full. Cities
began summer operations. Christmas shoppers in shirtsleeves filled the
streets of Montreal, QC.
