Last night's torrential rain created a mini lake in my front yard.On the
plus side,there is no snow and the grass is still green across the
street.Not bad for January in Nova Scotia.

Currently snowing here and the streets are covered.Temp is -3.6°C and winds are calm.

Today

 

Cloudy. Snow beginning this morning then changing to ice pellets late this morning then changing to rain this afternoon. Risk of freezing rain early this afternoon. Snow and ice pellet amount 5 cm. Rainfall amount 5 to 10 mm. Wind southeast 20 km/h gusting to 40 increasing to 40 gusting to 60 this afternoon. High plus 2.

 

Tonight

 

Rain. Amount 10 to 20 mm. Wind southeast 40 km/h gusting to 60 becoming south 30 gusting to 50 this evening then west 50 gusting to 70 before morning. Temperature rising to 7 this evening then falling.

Up to 30 millimetres of rain is expected by Saturday morning.

This is a warning that significant rainfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system over the Eastern United States will track northeastward to lie over Southern New Brunswick by this evening. The low will then move to lie east of Cape Breton Island by Saturday evening. Snow is expected to begin over Western Nova Scotia this morning then spread eastward. The snow will change through ice pellets and freezing rain before it changes to rain. 30 millimetres of rainfall is expected over southwestern and Atlantic coastal sections of Nova Scotia.

Strong southeast winds associated with this low pressure system will gust up to 110 km/h from Margaree Harbour to bay St. Lawrence beginning late this evening. These winds should diminish near dawn on Saturday.

Not much to worry about here today but look out for tomorrow.A storm is on the way:
Cloudy. Snow at times heavy beginning in the morning then changing to periods of ice pellets mixed with freezing rain and then changing to rain in the afternoon. Snow and ice pellet amount 5 to 10 cm. Rainfall amount 10 to 20 mm. Fog patches developing early in the evening. Wind east 20 km/h becoming southeast 40 gusting to 60 near noon. High 9.

The winter in our area continues to be generally mild with only a few odd
days of cold temps.It's well above normal here this morning with temps
currently at +5.8°C and it is raining.Hard to believe that a few days ago it
was -15.
More of the same is on the way for the rest of the month.

Today - Rain ending this afternoon then cloudy. Amount 10 to 15 mm. Fog.
Wind southeast 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming southwest 30 gusting to 50
this morning. High 9.
Tonight - Fog dissipating before morning then cloudy. Wind southwest 20
km/h becoming light late this evening. Low plus 4.
Wednesday - Mainly cloudy. 40 percent chance of rain showers changing to 40
percent chance of flurries in the morning. Wind becoming west 30 km/h
gusting to 50 in the morning. High plus 3 with temperature falling to zero
in the afternoon.
