building; a few shattered shingles and 2 broken windows in the nurses' home
was the only damage. Patients were a little perturbed, but the staff soon
ascertained there was no cause for alarm.

given the weather:-3°C, more than 10 cm of snow, and moderate winds. Roughly
42% of eligible voters cast ballots, up from the 2001 election, which drew
35%. Apparently, voters were unfazed by the weather and twigged by an

the organisms near the city's water intake system. Algae bloom in fall
because of increased nutrient availability, abundant sunshine, and
unseasonably warm weather.

-20°C caused early ice up on several rivers between Whitehorse and Dawson.

American Yukon Navigation Co. steamer below Dawson froze in the Yukon River;
4 passenger steamers and a large mail boat met the same fate between Dawson
and Tanana.
