organizers had previously decided -25°C for the cutoff temperature. Musical
instruments froze in the cold. Hundreds of volunteers and thousands of

Today's weather trivia: 22 November

2007: As Grey Cup host city, Toronto, ON, was ridiculed as much it was for
calling out the army to shovel snow in 1999 when the 1st storm of the season
(-8°C, with snow, freezing rain, and ice pellets) supposedly shut down the
Calgary Pancake Breakfast, a ritual since 1948. The 40 hardy Calgarians
really had to shut it down because the music was too loud for nap time at a
nearby daycare.

action to protect citizens. "In the interests of public safety it is about
time that some of the ruins on Duckworth Street and Water Street be looked
at. Bricks are useful, but when they take to flying they are objectionable."

2009: Unseasonably warm, dry weather enabled producers around Saskatchewan
to harvest 97% of the 2009 crop. More harvesting was done in the first 10
days of November than in the whole month of October. An additional blessing
was warmer and drier conditions drying some of the crop. Farmers were busy
with combining, drying grain, baling straw, hauling bales, cleaning corrals,
and rounding up cattle.
