12 January
2005: Following several days of snow, rain, and freezing rain, Vancouver,
BC, distributed more than 95 tonnes of free de-icing salt to 11,000
residents. At times, the lineup to get salt was almost 5 blocks long. In 3
days, officials stopped the free distribution because of decreased demand
and the coming of warm weather.
