Today's weather trivia: 25 January 1955: A heroic mother saved her
4-year-old boy from drowning in the Otonabee River at Peterborough, ON. As
she walked along the riverbank looking for her son, she saw him floating in
the river. She crawled onto the lake ice, but it gave way. She swam to her
son and dragged him to shore. The fire chief said the buoyancy of the boy's
gabardine snowsuit kept him afloat.
