Yesterday we finally saw temps above the freezing point for the first time
in over a week.The day and the evening were generally clear with clouds
moving in overnight ahead of some stormy weather.Warm temps,strong winds and
rain will be in the area for the next couple of days.Cooler with flurries by
the weekend but there are no more sub-zero temps in the immediate future.

Today..Cloudy. Periods of rain beginning this morning. Rain mixed
with ice pellets this morning. Risk of freezing rain this morning.
Rainfall amount 5 mm. Wind south 30 km/h gusting to 50. High 7.
Tonight..Showers. Wind southwest 40 km/h gusting to 70 increasing to
60 gusting to 90 before morning. Temperature rising to 10 by
morning.
Thursday..Cloudy. Periods of rain beginning in the morning and ending
late in the afternoon. Amount 10 to 15 mm. Wind southwest 60 km/h
gusting to 90 diminishing to 40 gusting to 70 near noon then
becoming west 50 gusting to 80 in the evening. High 11.

Wind light increasing to south 10 to 15 knots early this morning and
to south 20 late this morning. Wind increasing to southwest 30 late
this afternoon then becoming southwest 25 to 35 near midnight. Wind

Thursday afternoon. A few showers ending early this evening. Periods
of rain Thursday. Fog patches forming late this afternoon and
dissipating Thursday evening.
Today's weather trivia: 30 January 1939: The worst blizzard in years lashed
Ontario's Ottawa Valley, blocking roads and tying up traffic. The gale piled
waist-high drifts across streets and sidewalks, and streets lights became
faint blurs of illumination. Drivers and passengers pushed vehicles from
snow drifts. One prominent Smiths Falls' resident steered his car as it
moved slowly down the street, drawn by a team of horses!
