Today's weather trivia: 14 March 2005: As hundreds of athletes from around
the world gathered in Dawson, YT, for sled dog and Nordic ski races, snow,
freezing rain, and gusty winds played havoc with the competition. If it
hadn't been for the volunteers who sat on the windows of the beer tent, it
would have become airborne. The finish line banner was cut down when it
looked like the supporting posts would lift out of the holes in the ice.
