Today's weather trivia: 3 March 1941: A young farm boy walked 15 km through
snowdrifts in -25°C weather to enlist in the army at Innisfree, AB, but was
rejected by medical officers. He remarked, "It's a funny thing that I can
walk 9 miles here and 9 miles return and still not be fit enough to join
up." Recruiting officers were impressed by his spirit and that of countless
others, but he was too young and too short.
